We want to bring people together to deal with some of the pressing issue of our times: peak oil, climate change and an unsustainable economy.  If you want to get together to figure out how we can increase local resilience to these, and help build community along the way, then you're in the right place.

At the moment we're creating space for people to meet by holding film and discussion nights on the third Tuesday of each month. We’d really like to find out what you want to do or are already doing.  Other urban Transition groups have set up various projects: food growing, energy reduction, sustainable energy creation, local currency, reuse centres and skillshares. What do you want to see happening in Hackney?

Our group is one of many Transition projects around the world. Transition groups are about your local area. There's already a Transition Finsbury Park and a Transition Stoke Newington,

For those of you who want to get stuck in straight away, see Sustainable Hackney’s site to find an existing project. Hackney has a wealth of environmental, social justice and community organisations already making a difference. Sign up and become a member of this site, and contact us at transitionhackney@gmail.com to let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and how you would like to get involved.
